🍼 A Full-Circle Moment in a California Hospital
At Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital, a nurse had an incredible surprise. She discovered that her new coworker was once the premature baby she cared for nearly 30 years ago.
Vilma Wong, a NICU nurse with over three decades of experience, met Brandon Seminatore, a young pediatric resident, in August. Their meeting quickly turned into a heartwarming reunion.
👶 A Familiar Name Sparks Curiosity
Vilma asked Brandon where he was from. He said he was born in San Jose and had been a premature baby at the same hospital.
His last name sounded familiar. So Vilma asked a bold question:
“Was your dad a police officer?”
There was a moment of silence. Then Brandon replied, “Are you Vilma?”
That’s when everything clicked.
Brandon’s mother had told him to look for a nurse named Vilma if he ever worked there. She had cared for him during his fragile early days.
📸 A Photo Brings Back the Past
Brandon texted his parents. They responded with a photo one that showed nurse Vilma holding baby Brandon on her lap.
“I was shocked at first,” Vilma said. “But so happy to know I cared for him all those years ago.”
Now, Brandon works at the same hospital, helping care for children just like he once was.
🧠 From Fragile Infant to Pediatric Doctor
As a baby, Brandon needed an incubator, a ventilator, and constant care.
“I needed help to breathe and stay warm,” he recalled. “There were endless pokes and tests to keep me growing.”
Meeting Vilma again left him speechless.
“It was surreal,” Brandon said. “I never expected to meet the nurse who helped save me.”
